The role. We are seeking two full-time, permanent Woodlands Coordinators  (Transportation and Scaling) to join our Woodlands Department. Reporting directly to the Transportation and Logistics Superintendent, the successful candidates will work with the team to ensure the safe delivery and handling of high quality,  low cost logs to the MPR mill or remote Satellite Yards.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with planning, operations, and scaling to stay apprised of hauling plans and maximize the efficiency involved with the design, implementation, and refinement of a dispatch system.
  • Act as the company representative for regulatory agencies and industry stakeholders. 
  • Maximize integration efforts with other companies regarding hauling synergies.
  • Hauling Contract Administration including 
  • Coordinate setup and maintenance of mass scales (weighbridge, computer, power source and communication systems) with regard to standards, regulations, Environmental Management System, Quality and Health & Safety programs.
  • Annual Appendix 14 reviews with hauling contractors (to ensure winter weight permits are not at risk). Annual driver training session.
  • Develop budgetary scale/yard plans while monitoring and being accountable for expenditures.
  • All other duties as Assigned 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in contractor supervision, as well as harvesting and satellite yard management.
  • Proficiency with GPS technology utilizing the current version of ArcGIS and Log Inventory Management System (LIMS) database
  • Strong knowledge in all facets of forest management including operational planning, road & timber development, timber harvesting & transportation and pre/post-harvest obligations
  • Degree or Certificate in Forestry
  • Member or eligible to become a member of the College of Alberta Professional Foresters or the College of Alberta Professional Forest Technologists.
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience.
  • Must possess a valid Alberta Class 5 Operator’s license.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied climates.
