Position Description Reporting directly to the Manager, Internal Reporting, the Financial Accountant is a key position in a dynamic and integrated team. The Financial Accountant is a self-motivated individual with efficient communication skills and strong attention to details. They are comfortable with and able to work well in a deadline-oriented environment, including the ability to multitask and prioritise deadlines. The Financial Accountant is committed to continuous learning and is comfortable with asking questions to pursue a deeper knowledge of financial practices. This position is located in our head office in Vancouver, BC. Responsibilities Responsible for full cycle accounting of our head office entities, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial information, including journal entries and reconciliations. Prepare head office entity financial statements (P&L and Balance Sheet). Assist in the roll-over and preparation of monthly and quarterly reports. Responsible for the preparation of certain working papers to support financial statement components such as reconciliations, continuity schedules, variance reports, etc. Assist with the completion of the supporting working papers for the US tax return. Collaborate with the team to support and assist continuous improvement, consistent reporting, internal controls, and efficiency opportunities. Other financial reporting responsibilities and projects, as assigned. Qualifications and Experience A Bachelor’s Degree, or similar post-secondary education in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or Business is preferred. 2-3 years of accounting experience required. Enrolled in a professional accounting designation program is preferred. Detailed oriented with an emphasis on financial accuracy. Strong Excel, computer and analytical skills. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. A team player with strong organizational skills. Experience in accounting with multi-currency transactions is an asset. Knowledge of US GAAP is an asset. Experience with SAP or other ERP systems is an asset. Salary & Benefits The salary for this position is $65,000 – $75,000 per year. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. RRSP – We provide a competitive RRSP contribution plan, with base contributions made by Mercer which can be supplemented with personal contributions matched by the company up to a certain %.
