Pallets, sawn timber products, and bioenergy from integrated production

Mercer Torgau is one of the largest pallet manufacturers in Europe. As a large softwood sawmill, the company also focuses on the production of lumber for construction and packaging, planed wood products, wood pellets and briquettes, as well as products for landscaping and gardening. The company also generates renewable electricity for its own use and for feeding into the public power grid. Mercer Torgau has been part of Mercer International since 2022

Comprehensive use of wood as a raw material

Mercer Torgau makes the most of wood as a raw material—from the bark down to the very last chip. In addition to the main product of lumber, CO2-neutral bioenergy is generated using the bark in the company’s own power plants. Sawdust is used to produce high-quality biofuels, such as pellets and briquettes, as well as pressboard blocks for pallets.

With active participation within the timber industry, Mercer Torgau takes responsibility for ensuring that processed wood is reliably supplied from sustainable sources. Mercer Torgau is a member of EPAL, DeSH, HPE, DEPV and other industry associations.

Integrated Production for Quality and On-Time Delivery

Since its founding in 1999, the company has established itself in the industry with a production model that enables a high degree of flexibility and self-sufficiency. Intermediate products such as boards, blocks, and nails are manufactured in-house at Mercer Torgau.

This concept of self-sufficiency and integrated production serves as a model for the German pallet industry.

It enables the production of a wide range of products (pallets, lumber, and garden products). Through regular investments in modernizing its facilities and by maintaining reliable relationships with long-standing partners, MT offers its customers high product quality and on-time delivery.
