The role. We are seeking a full-time, permanent Industrial Nurse or Paramedic within our Health and Safety Resources Department. Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the Industrial Nurse or Paramedic will ensure employee well-being through the provision and oversight of essential health and wellness programs.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provide first aid and emergency care to all personnel on site
  • In emergency cases, arrange transportation to a clinic or escort them to a medical facility
  • Work closely with MPR’s Medical Director
  • Organize and coordinate the maintenance of medical equipment and supplies
  • Develop and manage programs for the promotion of worker health and well-being
  • Assist in the prevention of workplace related illnesses and injuries
  • Assess the workplace in an effort to identify possible hazards, educate leaders and team members on how to prevent incidents and injuries, and suggest appropriate controls
  • Recommend changes in procedures or develop ways to make the workplace healthier
  • Maintain paperwork and file forms, including but not limited to preparing and managing Patient Care Reports
  • Abilities management for occupational illness and injury cases with the goal of returning the team members to pre-incident abilities
  • Participate in Mill Safety Meetings to gain an understanding of team member challenges with respect to team member’s health and well-being
  • Working with Emergency Response Team (ERT) on practical medical skills
  • Anticipate, recognize, evaluate, control and prevent hazards in the workplace. This may include setting up programs such as Dust Monitoring, Occupational Hygiene, etc
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Active Registered Nurse license OR Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) certification 
  • Must be in good standing with the applicable Provincial governing body 
  • 3+ years’ experience in a similar role will be considered an asset. 
  • CPR/AED Level for Health Care Professionals 
  • International Trauma Life Support
  • Experience in emergency care, first aid, industrial environments and a good rapport within the medical communities are all considered assets
  • Skills in attention to detail, critical thinking, creative problem solving, ability to build rapport, and demonstrate clear, concise verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact with leaders and team members while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Moderate knowledge of business principles
  • Proven abilities in Google Workspace and MS Office suite programs
