Position Description The Laborer is an integral member of the production team at our Mass Timber Plant. This entry-level position supports the safe and efficient manufacture of engineered wood products such as cross-laminated timber (CLT), glulam beams, and other structural components. The Laborer performs a range of duties including material handling, machine support, quality checks, and site housekeeping to ensure consistent production flow and adherence to safety and quality standards. All production employees are members of the USW local 1-423 Union. This position is located at our facilities in Okanagan Falls B.C. Responsibilities Assist machine operators and production staff with material staging, loading, and offloading of timber products. Perform basic quality control tasks including visual inspection for defects, measurement verification, and recording of production data. Operate hand tools, power tools, and other equipment as required for timber finishing and cleanup. Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure a safe working environment. Remove scrap material and waste, sort reusable components, and ensure proper disposal of non-reusable materials. Follow all company safety protocols and participate in regular safety meetings and training. Support other production-related tasks as directed by supervisors. Report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or quality concerns to the appropriate personnel promptly. Participate in team meetings and continuous improvement initiatives. Other duties as assigned Qualifications And Physical Requirements High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not required) Previous experience in manufacturing, construction, or wood products industry is an asset. Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math calculations. Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs as required for specific tasks. Comfortable working in a role that involves standing for extended periods (with scheduled breaks), as well as bending, twisting, and moving in a production environment. Ability to safely and effectively operate tools and machinery that require hand coordination and attention to detail. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Work effectively in a team under supervisors, follow instructions and communicate effectively. Good time management skills. Willingness to learn new skills and cross-train on various tasks and equipment. Strong work ethic with a focus on punctuality, reliability, and safety.
