Project Manager – Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I)

The Role 

This position is responsible for managing Electrical and Instrumentation capital projects identified in the annual capital plan and developing projects identified in the long-term capital plan (LTP). The E&I Project Manager is key in leading project teams in developing and implementing various projects for each capital budget year.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Lead Capital Projects: Drive end-to-end project implementation, from scoping and design coordination focused on safety and value to successful construction, commissioning and stakeholder turnover. While your primary focus will be overseeing Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) projects, you may also be tasked with broader project management duties as required by the site and aligned with your professional expertise.
  • Manage Financials and Risk: Expertly define, track, and report on project schedules, budgets, and cash flow, while actively identifying and mitigating project risks.
  • Lead Interface Management: Proactively identify key success factors to ensure these are reflected in scope and commercial documentation to ensure clarity and alignment with project outcomes and the ability to manage key performance outcomes of the final project. 
  • Stakeholder and Documentation Oversight: Develop and manage critical project documentation (including Board approvals) and build effective relationships across operations, maintenance, and engineering disciplines.
  • Contribute to Strategic Planning: Support the development of the annual capital plan and audit project results to quantify benefits.
  • Compliance Oversight: Identify requirements to ensure that all aspects of a project comply with relevant regulatory, discipline or corporate standards. 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications and Experience

  • 5+ Years of Related Experience in industrial E&I project management.
  • Required Credentials: Electrical Engineering Degree, Technologist Diploma, or Electrical/Instrumentation Journeyperson certification.
  • Core Competencies: Demonstrated ability to drive projects independently and effectively communicate to collaborate with diverse, interdisciplinary teams.
  • PMP Certification, or equivalent, is considered an asset.
