Position Description

We are seeking applicants for the position of Shift Safety Coordinator within our Safety Resources Department. You are a safety and emergency response focused professional with exceptional interpersonal skills to foster and maintain good working relationships with employees, contractors and visitors. As a safety and emergency response subject matter expert for the operation, you have a demonstrated track record leading and promoting safety and emergency response systems and programs.

Core Responsibilities

  • Safety and emergency response for the facility
  • Promoting and educating employees on all aspects of the site safety program
  • May serve as the Incident Commander at emergencies
  • Shift Safety Coordinators hold the position of shift Captain for the Emergency Response Team
  • Inspect fire protection systems to ensure safe, efficient operation and ensuring compliance with insurance standards
  • Participate in and facilitate incident investigations
  • Participate in various safety inspections across the site
  • Conduct testing for noise, gas and heat
  • Manage and advise on Hot Work permits and inspection
  • This position is a 12-hour shift that follows a 4 on/off schedule, requiring night and weekend shifts.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 diploma, as a minimum
  • WSBC OFA – Intermediate (must be able to obtain Advanced within 6 months)
  • BC Drivers License (Class 5)
  • Good physical condition to carry out the duties of the position
  • Previous experience in emergency response (Fire, Ambulance, Police, Military, etc)
  • Certificate in OHS or better, in combination with OHS work experience is considered an asset

Salary

The salary for this position is $82,000.00 – $123,000.00. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
