Position Description

Reporting to the Manager, Treasury, the Treasury Accountant role offers an opportunity for growth, meaningful work, and a collaborative learning environment. Are you a detail-oriented professional with a passion for accuracy and efficiency? Join our dynamic finance team as a Treasury Accountant and play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth flow of our financial operations. Your expertise will be vital in processing invoices, managing vendor relationships, and maintaining impeccable financial records. 

Responsibilities

  • Process incoming accounts payable invoices, including obtaining approvals, coding and entering the same on a timely basis.
  • Manage vendor accounts including payable issues and account information.
  • Prepare and monitor bank transactions including fund transfers and payment runs.
  • Keep track of any queries made in relation to problem invoices.
  • Reconcile invoices with vendor statements.
  • Resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Provide support for the continued development of a leading customer service model, working in partnership with departments across the organization while setting a positive culture for continuous improvement through the problem-solving process.
  • Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual financial tasks.
  • Supply auditors with responses to audit and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) inquiries.
  • Maintain, organize and store company documents.
  • Provide support and backup to other members of the Treasury team.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, such as finance and accounting, to ensure alignment on financial goals.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A post-secondary education in accounting, finance or a related field. 
  • At least 2 years of experience in accounting, treasury accounting or an account’s payable role.
  • Enrolled or interested in enrolling in CPA program would be advantageous. 
  • Excel skills with the ability to use basic formulas.
  • Experience with accounting software (SAP, Microsoft Great Plains or other ERP Software) would be an asset.
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace.
  • Detail-oriented with an emphasis on accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong ability to learn and adapt.

Benefits

  • The salary for this position is $52,000 – $57,000. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

  • RRSP – We provide a competitive RRSP contribution plan, with base contributions made by Mercer which can be supplemented with personal contributions matched by the company up to a certain %.
