Position Description

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Plant Utility Operator will play a key role in supporting production operations by maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and organization of critical areas around the facility. Primary responsibilities include operating, loading, locking out, and cleaning around the hog and truck bins, as well as sorting and organizing CNC cut-offs stored outdoors. The ideal candidate will be dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment. This position is located at our facility in Spokane Valley, WA.

  • Inspect equipment daily, report low fluid levels, and address equipment malfunctions with maintenance.
  • Use appropriate PPE, especially during refueling and other specific tasks.
  • Stack panels and dunnage evenly and ensure lumber units stored outside are properly protected with paper.
  • Keep work areas clean and free of debris, picking up any loose materials.
  • Remove snow and ice from travel areas and assist Facilities with landscaping and lawn care as needed.
  • Operate forklifts and use hand and power tools (e.g., unit saw, chop saw, cross cut saw, chainsaw) as required.
  • Follow safety protocols, including lockout/tagout, proper SDS use, and Take 10 safety assessments for unfamiliar tasks.
  • Be familiar with the evacuation plan and radio channels (subject to change).
  • Store brooms and cleaning supplies properly using hangers or shadow boards.
  • Work with management and co-workers to meet safety, quality, and production goals.
  • Manage panel cutoffs and organize them as needed.
  • Notify the supervisor when the outside garbage dumpster is full.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or lead.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of manufacturing experience.
  • Skilled in operating forklifts, bobcat skid steers, combi lifts, and scissor lifts.
  • Great attention to detail and good organizational skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computer and HMI operations.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and follow directions.
  • Adaptable to change and effective in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physically able to stand for long periods, walk throughout the factory, climb stairs and ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs without assistance.
  • Able to multitask and work indoors or outdoors in all weather conditions.

Other

This role requires following company policies and may involve 8-12 hour shifts, overtime, and weekend work as needed. Employees must wear provided PPE (safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, high-visibility clothing, and safety footwear). Additional PPE may be needed for specific tasks. New employees will be monitored during the first six weeks, with evaluations based on attendance, safety, production, and quality. Advancement depends on attitude, productivity, and attention to detail. Final probationary period concludes after 90 days.
