Hanseatic City of Stendal and Mercer Stendal partner for the 23rd Saxony-Anhalt Day

Even before the recent announcement of the postponement of Saxony-Anhalt Day, the Hanseatic City of Stendal gained another partner from the region for the major event. Mercer Stendal grew in its support of the state festival and the successful “Wimmelbuch” – a first-ever picture book depicting the community – by becoming a sponsor of the event.

“As the pulp mill in Arneburg, Mercer Stendal is one of the largest employers in the district. We are particularly pleased to have them as a partner at our side for the region’s largest event in the coming years,” says Mayor Klaus Schmotz, who recently met with Mercer Stendal’s Managing Director, AndrĂ© Listemann. “Talks about the cooperation were already held last year, which incidentally also led to the cooperation on the Wimmelbuch,” Schmotz continued.

Listemann was equally pleased about the newly established partnership: “The Saxony-Anhalt Day is an absolute highlight for our district. Since the reputation in the region is very important to us, and the event has such charisma, it was logical for us to join – no matter when the day can finally take place. We are looking forward to it. I’m also particularly excited that the Wimmel books have been met with such great interest.”

In light of the ever-changing Corona pandemic, the two organizers of the 23rd Saxony-Anhalt Day – the host city, Stendal, and the state of Saxony-Anhalt – have agreed to postpone the state festival. A new date is to be found soon.

“However, we are confident that a state festival open to all can be held in 2024 at the latest,” concluded Schmotz. “With the Saxony-Anhalt Day, the Hanseatic City of Stendal invites all guests from near and far to discover the beauty of our region, to experience culture and also to celebrate together. We thank all of our partners in their support of the postponement.”
