Mercer and its employees donate 50,000 euros

As news of the political events in Ukraine reached the whole world in February, the Mercer German sites in Arneburg (Saxony-Anhalt), Rosenthal am Rennsteig and Saalburg-Ebersdorf (Thuringia) decided to take action. Various campaigns were quickly taken up throughout Mercer’s operations for the people of Ukraine. An internal fundraising campaign between the operations has raised 50,000 euros, with the amount handed over to “Aktion Deutschland hilft”.

“We are very proud that our employees took the initiative to help,” reported André Listemann, Managing Director at Mercer Stendal in Arneburg, at the symbolic presentation of the donation sum.

“Between our three locations with the two pulp mills and the sawmill, as well as Mercer Holz, the employees collected a total of 10,000 euros within only four weeks,” added Carsten Merforth, Managing Director of Mercer Timber Products.

“For the management group of the Mercer Germany companies, it was clear that we would join the fundraising effort,” said Wolfgang Beck, Managing Director of Mercer Holz.

“So the four companies donated another 10,000 euros each, making a total of 50,000 euros from the Mercer family for the people of Ukraine,” summarized Leonhard Nossol, Managing Director of Mercer Rosenthal.

The total amount has now been made available to “Aktion Deutschland hilft”, which is responsible for redistributing funds to aid organizations. “We already had a good experience with this when helping the flood victims last year,” says Listemann.

The four managing directors also agreed on one thing: “Our employees are the best!” With that, the quartet addressed their thanks to each and every employee who contributed to the success of this campaign.
