Mercer Peace River Achieves a 12 Month Rolling TRIR of 0.0

Mercer Peace River is thrilled to announce that it has reached a remarkable safety milestone: a 12 Month Rolling TRIR of 0.0 as of November 30th! This achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment of the entire MPR team. Reaching a Rolling TRIR of 0.0 is a significant accomplishment and a testament to ongoing efforts to create an outstanding safety culture. This achievement reflects the collective effort of everyone who has contributed to making Mercer Peace River a safe and healthy place to work.

What is TRIR?

TRIR stands for Total Recordable Incident Rate. It is a key metric that measures the frequency of workplace recordable injuries that require medical attention beyond first aid. A lower TRIR indicates a safer workplace.

Key Factors in Our Success

The MissionZERO safety program was introduced two years ago. At that time, MPR’s TRIR was 7.18. Through the MissionZERO program, Mercer Peace River set a goal of ZERO HARM to its team members and to ensure everyone on site goes home safely at the end of every shift. Although an ambitious goal, the team has worked incredibly hard to achieve it.

Several factors have contributed to the company's success in achieving this milestone:

  • Leadership Development and Coaching: The Mercer Peace River leadership team has consistently championed safety as a core value. To facilitate their growth, coaching was provided to drive safety improvements and keep safety as a top priority. Leaders are more present on the floor, have more conversations about safety and have focused on prevention!
  • Proactive Safety Measures: Mercer Peace River transferred its focus from lagging indicators to leading indicators. In this case, the leading indicators would be increased safety flashes, safety recognitions, FLRAs, hazard identification, Safe Work Plans, Worksite Inspections, Safe Work/Hot Work Permits, Morning Toolbox Talks, team member/leader interactions, among many more.

Thank you!

Mercer Peace River extends its sincere gratitude to every member of the team for their contributions to this achievement. Together, the company has continuously improved its safety culture that is a source of pride for the entire organization.
